The 30th Celebration set is the biggest Pokémon TCG release of the year, arriving worldwide on September 16, 2026. But a few weeks out, the story isn't the cards — it's the prices. GameStop reportedly listed several 30th Celebration products at up to three times their suggested retail, and collectors aren't happy. Here's the official lineup, what each piece is meant to cost, and how we'd navigate it.
What's actually in the lineup
Every card in the set is foil, every pack carries one of 30 unique Pikachu rares, and it debuts a new "Futuristic rare" rarity illustrated by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN. The September 16 wave includes the Elite Trainer Box, Poster Collection, Tech Sticker Collection, an ex Box (Sylveon ex or Greninja ex), and the Knock Out Collection. A second wave follows: Day & Night Mini Tins and a Binder Collection on October 2, then the premium tier — Ditto Premium Collection, the Day and Night Ultra-Premium Collections, and Mew & Mewtwo Figure Collections — on November 6.
The pricing controversy
Around July 4, screenshots spread showing GameStop listing 30th Celebration products well above The Pokémon Company's suggested retail. Reported examples:

Serebii's Joe Merrick publicly criticized The Pokémon Company for continuing to give GameStop exclusive promo cards while the retailer marks products up this steeply. Whether these listings reflect final in-store pricing or a placeholder error, the backlash has been loud — and it's a good reminder that "sold at a big retailer" does not mean "sold at MSRP."
How we'd approach it
Know the MSRP before you buy — it's the single best defense against overpaying during a hyped launch. The 30th Celebration print run is expected to be large, so there's little reason to panic-buy above retail on day one; fairly-priced stock tends to reappear as the initial rush settles.
