Three Mega Evolution — Ascended Heroes Tins release on August 28, 2026 at $21.99 each. Each tin holds four Ascended Heroes booster packs and one reprinted promo: Mega Meganium ex, Mega Emboar ex, or Mega Feraligatr ex. If you've been waiting on a cheap way back into this set, this is it — but the promos are reprints, and that matters.
What's actually in each tin
| Mega Meganium ex Tin | Mega Emboar ex Tin | Mega Feraligatr ex Tin | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Promo card | Mega Meganium ex | Mega Emboar ex | Mega Feraligatr ex |
| Booster packs | 4 × Ascended Heroes | 4 × Ascended Heroes | 4 × Ascended Heroes |
| MSRP | $21.99 | $21.99 | $21.99 |
| Release | Aug 28, 2026 | Aug 28, 2026 | Aug 28, 2026 |
| Promo is new? | No — reprint | No — reprint | No — reprint |
All three promos originally appeared in the Ascended Heroes Mega Boxes back in January. The tins are a second bite at those alternate arts, not a fresh reveal.
What four packs actually gets you
Ascended Heroes released in English on January 30, 2026 and is the largest Pokémon expansion to date at 295 cards, including the new Mega Attack Rare rarity. Tracked per-pack odds (roughly 2,000+ packs logged by the TCGplayer Authentication Center) look like this:
| Rarity | Per-pack odds | Chance in a 4-pack tin |
|---|---|---|
| Double Rare | ~1 in 5 | ~59% |
| Illustration Rare | ~1 in 9 | ~38% |
| Ultra Rare | ~1 in 21 | ~18% |
| Special Illustration Rare | ~1 in 70 | ~6% |
| Mega Attack Rare | ~1 in 300 | ~1% |
| Mega Hyper Rare | ~1 in 540 | <1% |
Read that honestly: a tin is most likely to produce one Double Rare and a stack of commons. The odds of a chase card out of four packs are single digits. Anyone telling you these tins are a value play on hits is selling something.
So who should buy one?
Buy it if you want the Mega Meganium, Emboar, or Feraligatr ex alt art and missed the January Mega Boxes. At $21.99 you're getting the promo plus four packs — which prices the packs around $5.50 each if you assign the promo no value at all, and less than that if you actually wanted the card. That's a reasonable retail entry point.
Skip it if you're chasing Special Illustration Rares or the set's top-tier singles. Four packs at 1-in-70 odds is not a plan. Buying the single you want has been the better move on this set since launch, and it still is.
Also worth knowing: the First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 arrives earlier in the month, on August 7, 2026 at $14.99 — a different kind of product, but it competes for the same August budget.
Our read
Ascended Heroes has been out for six months, so this is a re-release wave, not a hype window. Treat the tins as a fair-priced way to own a specific alt art and open a few packs for fun. If you're building toward a set, buy singles. If you're speculating, there are better places to put the money this fall.
