2026 might be the most stacked year the Pokémon TCG has ever had. The Mega Evolution era is in full swing, and it’s all building toward a 30th Anniversary set that could be the release of the decade. Here’s the full lineup so you can plan your buys — we keep this updated as dates firm up.
The year kicked off with Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes on January 30th, debuting Mega Greninja and Mega Floette. Perfect Order followed in late March with Mega Zygarde ex on the cover. Then came Chaos Rising on May 22nd, the Mega Floette ex set everyone’s opening right now. Ahead of us: Pitch Black on July 17th, built around Mega Darkrai ex and Mega Zeraora ex, and Storm Emerald expected late summer with Mega Rayquaza ex headlining.
But the date to circle in red is September 18th — the 30th Celebration set. It’s all-foil, six cards a pack, with a brand-new rarity type featuring Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Mew. On top of that, it’s the first Pokémon set to launch worldwide on the same day. Anniversary product draws massive demand and tight allocation, so expect it to vanish fast and expect to be hunting restocks.
A quick word on strategy. Buying to open? The freshest excitement is right at release, and sealed prices often soften in the months after as more product ships. Buying to hold? Anniversary and short-print sets have historically held value better than standard expansions — though nothing in this hobby is guaranteed.
